9/2/13 Like I say, everyday is different! We did really good today on the Lower Rogue River. Especially for how warm the water was, 70 degrees this morning. We hooked four fish today and landed three of them, two adult salmon and one really, really big steelhead. And it was a keeper!!! All wild steelhead must be released on the Rogue River. So..... It's exciting to catch a steelhead this big and being able to keep it. Most Rogue Steelhead average two to six pounds. I'm guessing this one was 10lbs. I'll bet your dying to see the picture!!! That's a big Steelie.....It was the best fight of the day, he took four runs and jumped five times!! Look at that steelhead next to those salmon, it's the one on the far right!

We've been fishing the Lower Rogue River for several weeks now and it's been a little tough. Everyday is different, one day is good next day tough fishing. Water tempature is warm, 68 to 70 degrees, which is probably keeping the bite off at times. We did get some salmon today, we hooked 5 jack King salmon and landed 4 of them. There alot of fun to catch and fight hard for there size! Nice bright fish "Chromers" good quality meat. I have these same guys tomorrow, hope to catch them some bigger fish! |
