Fishing in Southern Oregon

What to Expect:
We fish rain or shine year round here in Southern Oregon. Temperatures can reach as high as 100 in the summer and as low as 25 in the winter, and can vary up to 40 degrees throughout a day, so be sure to bring lots of layers for the boat. We often leave early in the morning depending on tides and when the fish are biting, so even summer trips may be on the chilly side in the morning, and typically will peak in the 80s.

What to Bring:
We recommend bringing comfortable clothing for the weather and water, including UPF protective clothing in the summer, and warm layers + rain gear for the winter, as well as whatever you need to keep your toes warm and dry (it is Oregon, after all). Sunscreen, a wide brimmed hat, and a phone or camera to digitally capture your catch also recommended, as well as lunch and any necessities (medications, epi-pen, inhalers) for a day on the boat. We provide custom St. Croix rods, bait, boat, and guide for your use (if you have your own rods you'd like to use, let Carson know. Don't forget a nice ice filled cooler waiting in the car to keep your dinner fresh on the way home.

ODFW Licenses:
All trip participants are required to have an Oregon Department of Fish & Wildlife fishing license before your trip with Carson's Guide Service. You can purchase a license online through the ODFW website. For 2020, a single day permit (including combined angling) for Oregon residents or non-residents is $23, $42 for two days, and $59.50 for three days.  A full year license is $44 for residents, with an additional $46 for the combined angling tag required to fish Salmon, Steelhead, and Sturgeon, and $110.50 for non-residents, with an addition $66 for the combined tag. There are special rates for seniors (over 70) and youth.

Carson's Guide Service is an equal opportunity recreation service provider and operates under special use permit with the Rogue River - Siskiyou National Forest.

"I've fished with Carson for over 10 years. His knowledge of the fish and the river systems they inhabit is top notch. He knows all the best places to get you into fish! He's also very personable there's never a dull moment on the boat. He is very good at explaining everything and no matter if you've fished before or not you will have learned something new and caught great fish along the way."

"Had a great time on the river with Chris. I’m not the most experienced fisher, but he always knew how to help me out. Chris knew exactly where to put us onto the good fish, excited to go back on another trip with him!"

No one knows our rivers in southern Oregon better than Carson and we have been going now for 7 years now and it is clearly one of the highlights of the year. Carson Guide Service has great gear, knowledge of the rivers and weather patterns and we are always on the fish. Chris is really a dedicated professional and is committed to the respect of the river, its conservation and doing what's best for the fishery and fishermen. And the best part is we ALWAYS Catch Fish and have a whale of a time doing it! If you are new to river fishing or a seasoned pro, I totally recommend Carson Guide Services for a great fishing experience.
