Steelhead fishing here in Southern Oregon has been really good. Even though we are in a drought year, steelhead just keep coming and stacking up in the holes. I lande my biggest steelhead of this season on the Umpqua so far, 20lber!!!! I'm so glad we can't keep them so that they can go back to the big boy genes going!!!! We have been landing 6 to 12 steelhead a day right now. It's going to stay that way for awhile.
Umpqua 20lber BABY!!!!!!!!!
The last few photos were from the Coquille River. We should have had our limit both days, but those guys just wouldn't set the hook hard enough

Went to the Main Umpqua today. Had a smoking day. Hooked 13 and landed 8 and there's lots mor to come!!!!
Headed back to the South Umpqua with one of my favorite clients. We hooked 7 and landed 4 with a nice hatchery fish to boot!!!!
Had some guys from south Carolina and they were looking for some Southern Oregon steelhead action. So we headed to the South Umpqua. For thier first time steelhead fishing they had a great day. They hooked 6 and landed four. Totally blew thier minds. It''s not like bass fishing!!!
Jan. 4th and 5th.
Fished the Main Umpqua with these guys for two days. Until we get rain, all of the action is happening on the Umpqua, which is fine with me. I love catching these big bright Winter Steelhead! The first day we hooked 8 and landed 5 on a beautiful Jan. day. The next day a cold snap came thru and fishing was tough in the morning, but we managed to land two late Silver Salmon and lost a Steelhead.
