Had some guys from south Carolina and they were looking for some Southern Oregon steelhead action. So we headed to the South Umpqua. For thier first time steelhead fishing they had a great day. They hooked 6 and landed four. Totally blew thier minds. It''s not like bass fishing!!! Jan. 4th and 5th.
Fished the Main Umpqua with these guys for two days. Until we get rain, all of the action is happening on the Umpqua, which is fine with me. I love catching these big bright Winter Steelhead! The first day we hooked 8 and landed 5 on a beautiful Jan. day. The next day a cold snap came thru and fishing was tough in the morning, but we managed to land two late Silver Salmon and lost a Steelhead. Jan 3rd Steelhead fishing on the Main Umpqua has remained good. Went fly fishing today and did really well! We hooked 8 and landed six. One of the six was a Silver Salmon! Nice Chrome hatchery Winter Steelhead!!!! Late Siver Salmon!
